How does sound heal the body?
When an organ or body part is healthy, it creates a natural resonant frequency in harmony with the rest of the body. There are many methods of healing with sound and the body heals itself most effectively in a state of deep relaxation. Using music to evoke “the relaxation response” is one of the simplest and most effective ways to promote healing.Crystals are fossilized water, formed when water combines with an element under certain conditions of pressure, temperature and energy. They amplify, transform, store, focus, and transfer energy.  Our bodies, too, are crystalline in structure. We’re leaving the Mercurial airways of Gemini that have been packed with an insistent drum like drive to speak. With Mercury squaring Mars last cycle, words have been piling up and pushing forward in a steady stampede, like a wild herd of cattle trying to communicate. Now with the Sun in sensitive Cancer we feel the tenderness behind the roar of the current astrological configurations that are forming. With the dry winds of Gemini blowing out to sea it’s time to feel the wet oceans of emotional Cancer.

Cancer, as a water sign yearns to feel nurtured. It’s time to slow down, pause and protect what our hearts are quietly coveting. Caring for every creature around us like family is the theme of Cancer as I watch tiny birds trying to pick up bread crumbs off the restaurant floor and witness the wild Iguana sitting in my husband’s lap eating pink hibiscus from his hands and petting my cat who just had surgery, in relief for the goodness of healing that exists, while he sleeps at night, on my pillow… The gentleness of Cancer is surrounding us like a soft blanket and allowing ourselves to fully “FEEL” will help us to unfold safely now.

This New Moon is a total solar eclipse where the Sun, Moon and the Earth all line up at the same declination/latitude in the sky. An eclipse is like a spot light on a specific degree asking us all to pay extra special attention to that point and it’s qualities in the zodiac for at least 6 months until the next eclipse occurs. This is an extra powerful New Moon and the more prepared and receptive we can be through feeling and expressing CANCER”S EMOTIONAL SENSITIVITY the more the eclipse will be able to naturally upgrade our “biochemical circuitry” and move us forward into the next step of our evolution and experience.

The qualities of the sign that Cancer is concerned with and  that could be worthy of our attention now could be: 1.) “Creating Security” wherever that may be, upgrading your home, moving from your home focusing on re-arranging your home to provide more comfort and fixing it’s uncertain finances. 2.) “Family”, inherited or family of choice, needing to call and connect to Mother, Reassessing who do I really care for, who do I feel close to, where do I belong? 3.) “Nurturing” Who and what pulls my heart strings? Giving extra comforting pets to our animals and the verbal assurances of how much they are loved, keeping the bird feeder filled, scattering seeds in ponds for the frogs and tadpoles and calling neighbors, letting them know we feel for them when their pets and husbands die. 4.) “Protection” placing a protective screen delicately around our feebleness so that we feel strong, stable and safe while allowing tears to fill and fall easily when we’re touched by life’s undeniable preciousness.  All things in life that are involved with empathy, nurturing and care are crying out to be felt by our hearts tiny threads of intuitive awareness as Cancer’s fabric is filled with feeling and then knowing…

Jennings and Keller is Laurie Jennings Oudin and Dana Keller, an acoustic duo based out of Miami, Florida. They bring a wealth of experience to their collaboration, from the Broadway musicals of New York to the honky tonks of West Texas. Their music is called “Fusion Folk Americana’ – a blend of many different elements that comes from their vast and wide-ranging musical backgrounds. With the release of their debut CD, ‘Susan’s House’, and its follow-up (May 2009), ‘As The Universe Unfolds’, Jennings and Keller are quickly gaining recognition throughout the country. In 2007 alone, they were finalists in five songwriting contests across the nation: South Florida Folk Fest, Suwanee SpringFest, Susquehanna, SolarFest, and Falcon Ridge Folk.

Laurie Jennings Oudin is well-known as the former proprietress of The Main Street Cafe, which was viewed across the country as the premier acoustic music venue in Florida. A former Shakespearean actress, Laurie has been a singer and songwriter for many years. Since the cafe’s close in June 2006, she has been devoting her time to her musical career with Dana.?

Dana Keller is a veteran pedal steel, dobro, and guitar player who has spent years performing on stage or in the studio with such luminaries as Vince Gill, Ricky Skaggs, Stevie Wonder, Larry Graham, Marvin Gaye, Dave Mason, Johnny Rodriguez and The Allen Brothers, to name a few. He has opened for, among others, Spirit, Pure Prairie League, Gordon Lightfoot, Waylon Jennings, and Buck Owens. Dana has been an endorsee of the Gretsch Guitar and Drum Company since 1980.

The synergy created from these two diverse talents is apparent in the responses they are getting from festival directors, club owners, and audience members. Laurie’s and Dana’s music is not easy to define, but will leave a lasting impression on all who listen.
